Have you ever asked yourself the question “Have I the right mindset for doing business?” Indeed, what is the right mindset? How can you find what it is?
It involves you taking a step back. Why are you in business? What do you want to achieve? To make loads of money I hear many of you say. But is it really?
Just take a look at the most successful entrepreneurs. Think of some you particularly admire and respect. What motivates them? It’s not the money. Many of them could have packed it in years ago and sat back. What they all have in common is a passion for what they are doing. In some way they are adding value to people’s lives and they get a kick out of that. It drives them.
Whatever business you are in, ask yourself do I just want to sell as much of my product or service as possible, or do I want to make a real difference to people’s quality of life? If you have this mindset, you’ll naturally want to go the extra mile to satisfy the needs of your customers.
You might say, “But I don’t sell to the general public, my clients are other businesses?” Well given that most of us spend a high proportion of our daily lives working in a business, then we should be aiming to add value to people in their business environment. So, take that step back and evaluate what you are offering people and be absolutely clear on its value.
Don’t’ you owe it to your clients to add that value?
