Global markets are all affected by Christmas. I was interested to research which markets slumped and those that gained interest both over the past 3 years, and during the past 31 days. I chose four keywords and branched off each keyword with additional research.

The connection can been seen in the growth of visitors to gadget and lingerie type websites. Hitwise has released the highest movers for the first week in December.

There are other research tools comparing current and historic search and spend that enable better cohesion between your product/service and estimated interest in the market place.
Expect to see the growth of CPC between Google Adwords, Microsoft AdCenter & Yahoo Sponsored Search spike during January for finance related keywords.
